Kansas is called the Sunflower State. I couldn't find a convenient field of sunflowers (that wasn't on the highway) so I found a different field of flowers to take family pictures. But when we got to the field, we found lots of No Trespassing signs posted. So this is what we got:
This ended up being my favorite picture of the evening. (My truck is my new baby. I'm still trying to think of a name for it.) My family seems to be growing up before I can catch up to them. They are so much fun.
Everyone has started school, even Toby (after three years of homeschooling, he needed a little more structure to his day). Toby and Aspen are both in high school. Aspen is taking a photography class that is her favorite part of the day. Toby thinks his classes are really easy. Isaac is enjoying 7th grade. He wears that fedora everywhere. And even makes sure that his hair is combed and his clothes match! Frankly, I am a bit shocked at this, but grateful nonetheless. Hazel loves first grade. Her school is right down the street and we enjoy walking to and from school everyday. It's kind of nice to be able to do that.
We are still unpacking. We've got some painting to do, and pictures to hang, and furniture to buy (left/sold my bookcases and kitchen chairs). So I am working on that. People ask what I do now that all of my kids are in school. Rest assured, there is plenty to do. When I get finished moving in, then there will be all the projects that I've been putting off for the last couple years. And the ginormous pile of books I want to read. And exercise. And cooking. And meeting with friends. And probably better blogging.

Change is always good! Looking forward to hearing all about life in Kansas.
