Visiting: Liberty Jail

It is nice to be close to so many church history sites.  We visited Liberty Jail.  We learned more about Joseph Smith's time spent there.

We were the only visitors at the time we went.  It was neat to hear the account of the trial these men faced being wrongly imprisoned in such an inhospitable place.
It was cold and cramped and dark and they were barely fed.  But this experience helped Jospeh to grow in the strength of the Lord.  It was a good experience for our family and for my children to gain a bit of understanding when we talk about the trials and faith of the early saints of the church.

Visiting: Independence

A couple Sundays ago we went to Independence, Missouri.  We walked through the visitor's center and learned about the early saints in this area.

Behind Isaac is a display of the languages that the Book of Mormon is printed in. And on the right is a copy of the first edition of the Book of Mormon.
It was a fun evening.  And a place that we could feel the spirit.

In the background is the Reorganized Church's temple.  That spiral is very interesting.  I would love to go to the top of that.
