Christmas music is so much fun. I love the traditional carols like "Silent Night" and "What Child is This?" And listening to, or attending a performance of, Handel's "Messiah" is a beautiful part of Christmas. And then there are the fun, sometimes silly, mostly for children, songs.
Hazel's favorite is "I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" Isaac doesn't know the true words to "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen". He only remembers the lyrics of "The Restroom Door said Gentlemen" instead. And Toby loves to make up his own silly lyrics in "Jingle Bells ("Batman Smells") or "The Twelve Days of Christmas". I must admit that I laugh when I hear "The Twelve Pains of Christmas" or the "Hannakah Song" or "I'm Gettin' Nuttin' for Christmas".
Last year we discovered a new Christmas song gem: Dominic the Donkey, by Lou Monte. My favorite lyric? "Chingedy-Ching, Hee-haw, hee-haw, it's Dominic, the Donkey."
Enjoy!

Hannah did a blog post about listening to some Christmas song lyrics out of context. Some were pretty funny.
