Day 1: Oh, Christmas Tree! Oh, Christmas Tree!

I've been away from my computer for the past month I think.  If I can't do it from my phone, it doesn't seem to get done.  But I am around.  We are busy doing fun holiday stuff. Still searching for a big box of holiday decorations that I have misplaced in the move.  Took two weeks to find our stockings.  Still missing my candle windmill.  Learning to run again.  New church callings: ward liason for the group that feeds the homeless, nursery leader, activity days leader.  Band concerts, choir concerts.  Then it's big essays and finals with the older kids. Holiday parties.  Isaac managaed to get into the poison ivy again.  (Iced over creeks and bitter cold weather don't stop that boy.  And somehow we didn't discover the poison ivy rash until it had spread over most of his body.  Thank Heavens for bendryl. ) Anyway, I'm getting around to posting.

I wasn't going to put up a big tree this year.  So I pulled out a small fake tree that I had.  But after I had put it together and strung lights on it, Aspen wanted to decorate it all by herself with a theme.  So I let her and we put that tree in the kitchen.

But I knew that Hazel would be disappointed if she didn't get to decorate a tree.  Since I didn't want to get out our other fake tree (it's 11 feet tall and a lot of work), we went to the local tree lot put on by the Breakfast Optimist Society to pick a real one out.

There was the cutest little old man who helped us.  It was also the coldest night ever.  So we were fast.  Isaac tried his hand at cutting off the bottom.

Nate stood it in the stand and I strung the lights on.

Then the kids decorated it.  (Still missing some ornaments that are in that elusive missing box).

So now the house feels a little more Christmas-y.  Now on to the rest of my holiday list.
