Day 10: What Child is This?

One of the churches here in Lawrence hosts a nativity display for Christmas.  There are many hundreds of different nativity sets.  They are from many different cultures and countries, including nations that are not traditionally christian.  Some are old.  Some are new.  Some handmade, some not.  They were very neat to see.

There was a scavenger hunt activity for the kids to help hold their attention.

Even the older kids were excited to finish the hunt.  Each completed worksheet earned the finder a new pencil.

This was only half the room where most of the displays were.

I collect nativities too.  But my collection is much smaller.  I don't think I could handle that many knick-knacks in one space for more than a day or two.  As it is, the clutter of decorations I do have is driving me a little crazy.  (The decorations will be coming down on the 26th for sure.)

But it was neat to see so many different interpretations of the birth of Christ.

Davis CA Stake does a Nativity show each year - they can be lots of fun - but sometimes overwhelming.

The scavenger hunt is a good idea.
