A trip to the beach each summer is a family tradition. This year we went to Port Aransas with a bunch of friends. There was a buddy for everyone. Everyone was happy.
Hazel and her friends Kambry, and Kacey.
Isaac practiced skim boarding.
The ice cream man drove by. Everyone came running out of the ocean soooo fast.
Digging to China!
We met up with our friends everyday at beach mile marker 95. The kids and Nate found all sorts of sea creatures in the ocean. This is a frog fish.
Lots of sand castles and mud baths and sitting in the shade.
This year we noticed that the tide was always really high. We later found out that the high tide was caused by an almost tropical storm in the Gulf of Mexico. The water level was up by a foot and a half because of the storm. That made the amount of beach smaller. But it also made some good waves. We got a lot of use out of the boogie boards.
Usually there is a lot of beach between the dunes and the water. In order to stay out of the water we parked up close to the dunes. Unfortunately, that led to some stuck vehicles. Our friends in the blue suburban had moved to jump start another car. In the process the suburban got stuck in the wet sand up to its axels. and we were without tow straps.
Eventually we rounded up a bunch of ropes and small straps and were able to pull them out. I learned that I need to have longer jumper cables and tow ropes in my truck. (Still need to get them.)
Beach trips are always fun. And relaxing. And I think I want to go again.
